Planning Board
Overview
The Planning Board is a seven-member board appointed by the Town Board. Each member serves a seven-year term. To qualify, a Planning Board member must be at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the Town of Guilderland (including residents in the Village of Altamont). Each member must satisfy a training requirement of four hours annually in an eligible planning-related education session.
The Planning Board is responsible primarily for reviewing development applications for subdivisions and site plans in accordance with the applicable regulations of the Town of Guilderland Town Code and NYS Town Law and ensures that each application complies with the regulations implementing the NYS Environmental Quality Review Act. The Planning Board coordinates its review with the Town Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Guilderland Conservation Advisory Council as needed. Planning Board members attend two evening meetings per month and are required to review the submissions before the Board.
