  • At the intersection of Route 20 (Western Avenue) and State Route 146, heading west towards the Town of Altamont, the office is located about a quarter of a mile to the right, before the main entrance to Tawasentha Park, which is on the left side of State Route 146. 

    From Guilderland Center heading east towards Route 20 (Western Avenue), the office is located about an eighth of a mile to the left, past the main entrance to Tawasentha Park, which is on the right side of State Route 146. 

    The Parks and Recreation office is open 8:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.

    The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 3:30pm. The office is closed on Saturday, Sunday and during Town of Guilderland Holidays.

  • Town residents can pick up a Town Park/Transfer Station sticker at our office. Stickers are also made available to town residents at Town Hall and the Transfer Station locations. Residents will need their vehicle registration in order to receive a sticker. Stickers are provided at no cost to the resident.   • Winter weather enthusiasts can take advantage of the town's park system, with sledding and snow tubing opportunities at the Winter Recreation Area located approximately 1/8-mile past the entrance to Tawasentha Park. There are groomed cross country ski trails located at Guilderland's Western Turnpike Golf Course and snowshoe and cross-country skiing opportunities are available at various Town of Guilderland ungroomed trail systems. 

    Cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals are available to Town of Guilderland residents, at a nominal fee. Rentals can be secured at the Parks & Recreation Office located at 181 State Route 146, Altamont, 12009.  Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 3:30pm. The office is closed on weekends and holidays. Proof of residency is required at the time of the rental request.     Cross-Country Ski Rental 

    There are a handful of skis, ski poles and ski boots ranging from youth to adult sizes to select from.

    Parks & Recreation
  • Tawasentha Park is open year-round from 8:00am to dusk. Residents with a park permit are allowed to enter the park at no charge. Non-residents may be subject to a daily fee of $10.00 on weekdays and $20.00 on weekends and holidays, per vehicle.

  • Day Camp

    The Guilderland Parks and Recreation Department offers a half-day Summer Camp program located at Tawasentha Park, starting at 8:30am and ending at 11:45am for children 5 to 13 years of age. Transportation to and from Tawasentha Park is offered to registrants, in weekly increments, for the 6-week duration of the summer camp program. A nominal fee is charged for each weekly registration. There are 4 designated school buses, each having specific bus routes with pick-up and drop-off points throughout the bus route. Bus routes may vary each year based on day camp enrollment.  

    Campers may enroll in swimming lessons as part of their day camp experience. Enrollment is limited on a first-come, first-serve basis for Guilderland residents; registrants must commit to a two-week day camp session to take swimming lessons. 

    We also offer a 1/2 Day Camp program for Students With Disabilities, which operates in conjunction with the Guilderland Central School District. The camp's theme is to promote fun, physical fitness, social enrichment, outdoor life, and artistic creation. Bus transportation is provided for the 6 weeks of the summer day camp.

    Students who are 14 or 15 years old may participate in the Junior Volunteer Counselor (JVC) program. To learn more about our Summer Day Camp program and offerings, please visit our Parks & Recreation Activities, Events & Programs web page.

    Sports Camps

    In addition to the Day Camp, we offer Sports Camps for every imaginable sports activity. From archery to football, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, cross-country running, golf, tennis, gymnastics, and volleyball. Many of our own Guilderland teachers direct these specialty camps at our community and school facilities. Sports Camps are not limited to summer. There are offerings throughout the year, mostly during the school system's Winter and Spring break sessions.

    Enrichment Camps

    A wide variety of Enrichment Camps are offered during the summer. From baking camps such as our very popular "Creative Cupcake Wars!" and "Books & Cooks" to exploratory programs such as "Archaeology - Roman Empire", "Under the Sea Camp" and "Zoology"; many of these camps were offered during the 2025 season. There are several offerings for children interested in music, arts & crafts and video gaming.  Many of our own Guilderland teachers and teachers aides instruct these specialty programs. 

    Brochures

    Summer Camp brochures, which include information about Tawasentha's 1/2 Day Camp, as well as, Sports and Enrichment Camps, are sent via backpack mail through the schools to Guilderland residents at the end of March and/or early April each year. Brochures are also available for pickup at the local libraries and at the Parks and Recreation office

    An electronic flip book version of the brochure is also made available online at our Recreation Website generally beginning in April.

  • The GPAC summer performance series will be celebrating its 47th season in 2026. Performances are generally held on Thursday evenings during the months of June, July and August. Theater and music performances are open to the public at no cost; donations to support various GPAC events are gratefully accepted. GPAC is located at Tawasentha Park, 188 State Route 146. Most performances begin at 7:30 pm. Many venues also have food trucks on-site for patrons to grab a bite. 

    There is seating available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Feel free to bring lawn chairs or a picnic blanket for your added comfort. Some picnic tables are located near the stage, but there is limited seating.

    Our yearly Concert Schedule is generally made available online in the Spring of each year, before the season begins.

  • Seasonal Hours of Operation

    The pool opens around mid-June each year, weather permitting, and closes around Labor Day each year. The pool is open to Town of Guilderland residents and their non-resident guests from 12:00pm (noon time) to 7:00pm Monday through Friday, and 11:30am to 7:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.     Day Passes 

    Public open swim fees are structured as follows:

    • A resident can bring up to two non-resident guests. A resident family can bring up to five non-resident guests (for example - family from out of town). Non-residents are not permitted without being a gest of a Town of Guilderland resident. 
    • ID is required to show proof of residency

        • Free for Seniors aged 60+/Children under 5
      • Non-Resident fees(Guest of a Guilderland Resident)

    Season Passes

    Season passes are only issued to Town of Guilderland residents. Proof of residency is required before a season pass can be issued.

    • Season Passes can be purchased at the Guilderland Parks and Recreation Department or directly at the pool. 
      • Family pass $140 - includes members of a household
      • Individual pass $80

    Residents can purchase passes at the Parks and Recreation Office, located at 181 State Rt 146, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-3:30pm.  Cash, check and credit card transactions are accepted. A 3.0% processing fee is applied to all credit card transactions. 

    Season passes can also be purchased at the Tawasentha Park Pool building during public swim hours. Cash and check payments are accepted at this location. Credit card purchases cannot be processed at the pool building. Proof of Residency is required at the time of purchase.

  • Facility rentals are available to Town of Guilderland residents from May 1 – October 31, Monday – Sunday, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations for a specific calendar year begin on the first business day of January. Pool Cabana rentals are only available during the open pool season. 

    To reserve a facility, residents must complete and submit the Request for Use of Facilities Form/Know the Rules and remit with full payment (credit card, check, or cash) to the Parks and Recreation Department. An Alcoholic Beverage, Beer & Wine Permit, can be obtained for an additional $12.00 fee. An approved rental agreement and alcohol permit (if purchased) must accompany the person/resident responsible for the event. 

    Please note that pool admission fees are not included with pavilion rental fees.

  • Contact the Guilderland Parks and Recreation office at 518-456-3150. Leagues and organizations wishing to rent fields must fill out a Request for Field Permit (PDF) and a Leagues and Organization Agreement and provide an insurance binder prior to using the fields. The Town charges a fee for the use of the Nott Road fields (soccer, softball, etc.).

  • Dogs are allowed in all Town parks and hiking trails.  All dogs must be kept on leash at all times. Town regulations also require the removal of dog excrement from the trails and other park locations.

    Pursuant to the Town of Guilderland Department of Parks and Recreation Rules and Regulations (Section VII) (PDF), all animals shall be kept on a leash at all times in Town parks pursuant to Town Code Section 120-19. Dog excrement shall be removed immediately and properly disposed of in a sanitary manner.

    The Town opened the Dog Park at Nott Road Fields, a large fenced-in area, where dogs can run off-leash and socialize with other dogs. The Dog Park is restricted to Town of Guilderland residents only and you must have a current valid dog license. Dog Park tags are available at the Town Clerk's office. See Dog Park Rules for more information.
